Message from Victoria Sept 2025
END OF TERM 2 MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD TEACHER
Dear ETRA UK,
Greetings to you in the Lord’s name, Jesus Christ. We hope you are fine.
We extend our deepest condolences to you, ETRA UK, on the passing of Mr. Mike Keene, who was a valuable member of the family and to us all. May god comfort Jan and her family during this time.
THIS IS OUR REPORT FOR TERM 2 2025.
We begin by appreciating your big support in prayers and finances.
We have just received the 3rd batch to cover July to September 2025. Thank you so much.
We have a total of 230 children. Their health hasn't been too bad, though coughs and flu are widespread across the country.
Teachers and other supporting staff have been doing well with only a few colds and have actively participated in each activity.
The school has been quite good both academically and in sports. As I write, our school is fully involved up to the Municipality level. Two students, a defender and a shooter, are from Glenburnie and have helped the Municipality rise above the other Municipalities in Uganda.
We welcomed them in a decent action on Sunday, 7th September 2025.
TERM SUCCESS
· Drilling the well; as Glenburnie Butega School grows, there are things we want to see, especially “water”, so Trinity Church USA agreed to support us, and now the water is available. This project was easily pushed because the electricity was drawn to the school, thanks to the support from the Czech Team.
· Dormitory extension/school maintenance and school repair were facilitated by Trinity Church. We appreciate them so much.
· A library has been established with books.
· A few hands-on skill projects have been developed, including chicken rearing, cow rearing in full gear, a green vegetable garden, and liquid soap making. The school environment is quite good.
· Visitors: The School Inspectors have visited multiple times, and the government sent a group from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) statisticians to assess the school's facilities and learning environment.
· Wins in ball games throughout have had an impact on our school. We pray that academics also increase.
HARDSHIPS
· Registration: the process of registration is still on but stalled by the requirements on teachers’ qualifications. We are working within the inspectors' guidelines to see more progress. We have reapplied and now wait for the outcome. The Nursery has been fully registered, and we are now awaiting the Primary section's registration.
· This term’s fee collection has been very low because some parents are quite reluctant, and others have not paid at all.
Although some friends supported certain large items, the income collected has been very low [29%], so we had to forgo some expenses throughout the term and in other cases, we are left with debts as the term ends.
The term was well ended with the teachers and parents meeting, and the school was closed the same day, 15/8/2025.
Wishing you well in your endeavors, and may God fill you with joy.
Remember us to those we know.
